Lord of Life // Holy Hen House Workshop

One week ago all my bags were packed, I was ready to go, and my John Denver CD was playing, Rocky Mountain High and Leaving on a Jet Plane over and over. Amber and I - and our 8 month old baby boys! - were on our way to Colorado. It was the first time we took our Holy Hen House workshops out of Wisconsin!

Our babies brought smiles to all of those that were around us! Thank you to our husbands and other family members that helped stay with our other older children so that Amber and I could travel out West!

COflight The women at Lord of Life jumped right in stuffing folders, registering women, decorating tables, bringing food, adding name tags, and saying hello to friends that came in from near and far. All together we had about 40 women that attended the event even though the weekend was filled with strange weather including hail, rain storms, and snow!

God used and STILL uses single women, mothers, grandmothers, and widows to serve His kingdom in a variety of ways.

The sessions and topics we chatted about were: 1. Women of All Seasons Unite 2. Being Still & Filled in Christ  3. A Mission Heart... Right at Home

We played the ice-breaker "Me Too!" where women get to know fun details about each other. Besides being women, the other thing that we had in common - the most important thing - is that Jesus is our Savior!

Amber and I played some music and sang some hymns with the women. We played background music during Amber's session on Being Still & Filled in Christ to assist the women to pray and meditate on God's promises. Also, Amber and I had the privilege to play "A Mother's Prayer" by Keith & Kristyn Getty during worship on Sunday. Check out our guest Mother's Day post written by Kristyn Getty here.

After the workshop, we returned home mutually encouraged in our faith! Thank you Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Thornton, CO for hosting us!

It was a long trip and some told us we were crazy to do it but the Lord watched over each step and mile we went. It was a great Mother's Day weekend and when we returned home Amber and I were met with open arms, no more snow, and sweet surprises from our families.

We are grateful for our Christian family that we got to meet in the West. God be with them until we meet again! And that may not be until we cross the real finish line - our heavenly home!
