Promises For When You're Weak

When you feel your weakness defines you.

When you feel small because of your weakness.

When you feel frozen in fear.

BOAST!

BRAG!

Be loud and surround yourself with God's promises!

Here are some good ones to remember...

JESUS' GRACE IS SUFFICIENT

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
— II CORINTHIANS 12:9-10

THE LORD RENEWS YOUR STRENGTH

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
— ISAIAH 40:29-31

THE SPIRIT SPEAKS FOR YOU

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
— ROMANS 8:26-30

YOU ARE BLESSED

Looking at his disciples, he said:

“Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.

Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.

Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.

Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven.
For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.”
— LUKE 6:20-23

YOU HAVE HOPE

... we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
— ROMANS 5:3-5

YOU ARE VICTORIOUS

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 4:8-10

THE LORD SAVES YOU

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.
— PSALM 34:17-19

Heavenly Father,
You are stronger than anything. You are higher than all my pain. Nothing can build me up compared to you - not money, popularity, work, achievement, medicine, or some exercise formula. Forgive me, Lord, when I try to solve life's problems by myself. May I seek help from you first and come to you in prayer! Forgive me, Lord, when I don't have a tight rein on my mouth and complain to others about my difficulties. May I steer away from venting and turn my thoughts to battle planning! Help me to see your strength in my weakness and share your glory through my pain. When I am weak - then I am strong! Thank you for Your mighty power that lives in me. You are faithful. You are my deliverer. My eyes are fixed on you.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
